2025 Black Zine Fair T-Shirt: Discursive Circus

This limited-edition screen-printed tee features a bold, collaged design screenprinted by PAAL WORLD in rich navy and bright chartreuse inks. Designed by Malachi Lily and Neta Bomani, the shirt channels the spirit of the second annual Black Zine Fair: Discursive Circus—a celebration of Black radical publishing and imagination.

The front features a mixed media portrait of William Dorsey Swann—the first known person in America to lead a gay resistance group and call themself a “queen of drag”—set against shadow-puppeted stars and butterflies drifting like kites through the cosmic web of Ananse Ntentan. The back features a court jester’s riddle in hand lettering by PAAL WORLD.

Mineral wash dyeing creates subtle variations in color and texture. Color transfer may occur—wash separately in cold water.

100% cotton. Light grey mineral wash crew neck t-shirt made by Los Angeles Apparel. Washed with natural enzymes for a soft, broken-in feel.
